Forinstance;whenSowerberryhadanorderfortheburialofsomericholdladyorgentleman,whowassurroundedbyagreatnumberofnephewsandnieces,whohadbeenperfectlyinconsolableduringthepreviousillness,andwhosegriefhadbeenwhollyirrepressibleevenonthemostpublicoccasions,theywouldbeashappyamongthemselvesasneedbe--quitecheerfulandcontented--conversingtogetherwithasmuchfreedomandgaiety,asifnothingwhateverhadhappenedtodisturbthem。Husbands,too,borethelossoftheirwiveswiththemostheroiccalmness。Wives,again,putonweedsfortheirhusbands,asif,sofarfromgrievinginthegarbofsorrow,theyhadmadeuptheirmindstorenderitasbecomingandattractiveaspossible。Itwasobservable,too,thatladiesandgentlemenwhowereinpassionsofanguishduringtheceremonyofinterment,recoveredalmostassoonastheyreachedhome,andbecamequitecomposedbeforethetea-drinkingwasover。Allthiswasverypleasantandimprovingtosee;andOliverbehelditwithgreatadmiration。
